With the entire nation watching, Delaware is beginning to transform teaching and learning in classrooms across the state. The Vision 2015 Annual Leadership Forum focuses on Delaware’s progress toward building a world-class public education system. The conference will be held on Tuesday, September 28 from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Join Governor Jack Markell and Delaware Education Secretary Dr. Lillian Lowery as they report on recent progress in The First State, including how our state is racing to deliver on our winning Race to the Top plan.
This day-long conference will explore the implications and opportunities associated with Delaware leading this race, and what it will mean for every student in The First State. The agenda includes panels with national and Delaware experts, as well as discussion sessions on what it will take to effectively implement the state’s public education reform plan.
New York City Schools Chancellor Joel Klein will give the conference keynote address. Chancellor Klein is leading cutting-edge work to improve some of the nation’s most underserved schools, notably by increasing supports for students, parents, and educators, while requiring greater accountability for results in the classroom. His presence in Delaware comes at a critical time—as our state puts into place a transformational education reform agenda, which include significant Race to the Top commitments.
The conference is for policy makers, educators, business leaders and other interested citizens. It is part of UD’s Knowledge-Based Partnerships Conference Series.
